Every church planting journey is both uniquely personal and profoundly familiar. Today, we celebrate our own journey—one marked by faith, perseverance, and the unmistakable hand of God. Planting a church is never easy. It comes with challenges, setbacks, and moments of deep reflection. Yet, it also brings overwhelming joy—joy found in witnessing God's Spirit move through committed, like-minded believers. It’s in these moments that we experience the beauty of a called-out community—serving, growing, and worshiping together.
For me, the heart of church planting is witnessing God create something from nothing. Only He can do that. It’s been a privilege to watch this small but devoted group walk in grace and deepen their trust in the Lord, believing with confidence that what He has begun in us, He will bring to completion.
When we began the journey to plant Turning Point Christian Church, it was not a decision made lightly. It was bathed in prayer and anchored in deep, honest conversations. Through those moments, our relationships were strengthened. We prayed together, studied God’s Word together, and allowed the Spirit to shape us individually and collectively. Christ’s transformative presence filled our hearts with unity, peace, joy, and love—aligning us in purpose and mission.
Our minds are most full of heaven when they are most full of Christ. This truth becomes real when we recognize that our lives are intricately and eternally bound to Jesus—and to each other. C.S. Lewis once said, “The desires of one’s heart will determine the direction of one’s life and ultimately one’s eternal destiny.” That desire—to join God in His redemptive work of transforming hearts—is at the core of church planting. At Turning Point, we are fully aware that this church was not planted by human effort alone. It was a divine calling, confirmed through the testimonies and faith of others. Our story isn’t about feeling good—it’s about faithfully celebrating what God has done and is still doing among us.
As we commemorate our church anniversary, let this be a moment of reflection, rejoicing, and renewed commitment to our mission: connecting the unconnected. We cast the net—God does the transforming. This anniversary is not just a marker of time, but a living testimony to the unity of a diverse, tightly-knit community that loves God, loves others, and passionately shares the Gospel.
Our journey proves that God brings together people who would never have crossed paths otherwise. He weaves their lives into one beautiful story—His story. So, as we
celebrate this milestone, may we never lose sight of our absolute dependence on the unending river of God’s grace.
Happy Birthday, Turning Point Christian Church! To God be the glory. – Pastor Joe
